DESIGN PURPOSE: Turning the under-utilized space into community destination. Including labyrinth garden, sledding hill and elaborate play structure. The goal was to use natural materials in the space including climbing boulders for the children which were set on 24" gravel footings. The granite Monolith boulders just under 9' tall were cut on the bottoms and set onto footings to accommodate brackets for support. The 64 tons of Granite boulders were set in two days after completing the masonry Wave Wall.The wave wall was installed with Lake Superior Limestone and split upto 14" deep and laid up with a deep rake joint.
